Atlético Madrid Champions of UEFA Super Cup

Diego Costa's Stellar Performance helps Atléti beat Real Madrid 4 - 2  After two hard defeats in the champions league final, it was a very important game for Atlético Madrid to overcome their arch rivals Real Madrid. With their heads held high, they did so by finally defeating Real in an European competition final.  It all started from the kick off as Diego Costa scored from a tight angle to give Atléti with the lead. Later as Atlético sat back, Karim Benzema equallized. In the second half Real Madrid came back to take the lead after scoring from the penalty spot, but Costa restored the score to 2 - 2. Atléti delivers trademark performance against Olympique de Marseille to clinch their third UEL After two hard defeats in the champions league finals, it was a sentimental game for Atlético Madrid to overcome those defeats. Well, Antoine Griezmann ensured Atléti lifts the European trophy this time. The french man struck twice as the los rojiblancos outclassed hapless Olympique de Marseille 3 - 0.  Atletico Madrid celebrates lifting the trophy. Marseille dominated the opening stages but gifted Atletico the lead when Zambo Anguissa failed to control goalkeeper Steve Mandanda's pass and Gabi intercepted before setting Griezmann free to score. Atlético Madrid beat Arsenal 1-0 (2-1 agg) to reach Europa league finals . Diego costa scored the only goal of the game. With all eyes set on Arsène Wenger's hopes of bowing out with a European trophy, were destroyed by Diego Costa - A familiar foe and a familiar story.  Arsenal did everything but managed only one shot on target, that came off Granit Xhaka's long range effort, while Diego Costa ran chaos in the Arsenal defence. Fernando Torres to leave Atlético Madrid at end of season. Fondly known as El Niño, Torres announces he will be leaving his home Atlético for the second time in his career after deciding it was the right time.  Goodbye Legend !!! "When I joined Atlético I was 10 years old and it's my home," said the 34-year-old . "I was lucky to debut, to play, to score goals...it's always been my home.
