Arsenal did everything but managed only one shot on target, that came off Granit Xhaka's long range effort, while Diego Costa ran chaos in the Arsenal defence. Griezmann, deep in the right flank, fizzed a diagonal cross to Costa who muscled his way to put the ball in the net. Soon it was game over as Atléti concedes rarely at home.

Earlier in the game, Laurent Koscielny was stretched off after suffering achilles injury. Chambers replaced injured Kosciely but was unable to stop Costa.
During the final stoppage time Fernando Torres and Koke were toying with Arsenal defence and made sure there was no come back for the gunners.
